Local Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings Sliven held a training of experts from the Directorate "Labour Office", Sliven


On 27 April 2023, a training for nine experts from the Directorate of the Labour Office in Sliven was held on the topic "Counteracting and preventing trafficking in human beings for labour exploitation and forced labour".

Vladimir Drumev, Secretary of the Local Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings (LCCTHB), Sliven, introduced the participants to the crime of human trafficking, the methods of involvement and mechanisms for controlling victims of labour exploitation, as well as the national framework and policies for preventing and combating human trafficking.

The current trends in the crime were discussed and real cases of trafficking in human beings for labour exploitation, on which LCCTHB-Sliven has worked, were presented. Emphasis was placed on the multidisciplinary approach and the interaction between institutions, which play a key role in successfully coordinating alerts and protecting victims.

During the training, targeted audio-visual products showing the indicators of the risk of being involved in labour exploitation were consistently presented. The National Anti-Trafficking in Human Beings Helpline - 080020100 was presented, with guidelines for the experts from the Directorate of the Sliven Labour Office to provide information to unemployed persons on the possibility of reporting the crime through the national helpline.

According to the data of the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Bulgaria, the number of new pre-trial proceedings for trafficking in human beings for forced labour in 2022 is 44.
