Project name: Ensuring the sustainability of specialized support for victims of human trafficking

Support to law enforcement authorities". Support to law enforcement authorities (BG65ISNP001-5.015), under the "Internal Security Fund", with the responsible authority being the International Projects Directorate of the Ministry of the Interior, in the amount of BGN 450 000.
Description: The support, care, and protection of victims of trafficking in human beings is a key priority of Bulgaria's system for countering the crime, of the relevant legislation, and of the country's commitments under international conventions and agreements.
This project will ensure the sustainability of the provision of specialized services for victims of trafficking in human beings in Bulgaria by 1) resuming the activities of the Shelter for Temporary Accommodation of Victims of Trafficking in Human Beings (STAVTHB) in Sofia; 2) training staff to provide specialized care for victims of trafficking; 3) building an integrated database on the services provided to victims of trafficking in the shelters in Sofia, Varna and Burgas in order to access information in real-time.
Objectives:
The main objective of the project is to ensure sustainability and quality improvement in the provision of specialized support and care for victims of the crime of trafficking in human beings in Bulgaria.
The specific objectives that will contribute to the achievement of the main objective are as follows:
Specific objective 1: To resume the activities of the NCCTHB in Sofia. Based on the experience of the NCCTHB in Sofia by the end of 2018, it is necessary to outsource the activity to an external contractor (a non-profit entity with the necessary experience) to provide the service in the already existing infrastructure, fully ready to receive clients. Capacity:10 beds;
Specific objective 2: Establish an Integrated Database (IDB) of the services provided to victims of trafficking in the shelters in Sofia, Varna, and Burgas in order to access real-time information. The IBD will be the result of a one-off investment that will contribute significantly to improving the quality of care for victims of human trafficking.
Specific objective 3: Increase the capacity of the staff in the reopened shelter in Sofia in order to increase the capacity of the staff in the reopened shelter to provide support to the victims of human trafficking and of the staff in the administration of the NCCTHB to work with the IBD. New skills will be transferable on a train-the-trainer basis, further contributing to the sustainability of the initiative's results.
Specific objective 4: In order to promote the project, it is foreseen to organize and hold two events, an opening conference and a closing conference, aimed at presenting the approved project, its main objective, the activities planned and the results achieved after its implementation.
