
Today, September 30, specialized training was held in the Boris Hristov House of Culture, Plovdiv for judges, prosecutors and inspectors from the Criminal Police Department and Combating Organised Crime sector - Plovdiv, Pazardzhik and Smolyan.
The event is organized by the Local Commissions for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings in the cities of Plovdiv and Pazardzhik, the National Commission for Combating Human Trafficking, with the support of the Hans Seidel Foundation.
The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Ilian Ivanov, Vice Chairman of the Local Commission in Plovdiv, and the keynote speaker was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Iva Pushkarova.
The training was attended by 25 representatives from the above-mentioned institutions and aimed to increase the qualification of officials on the issue of trafficking in human beings, as well as to serve for the exchange of good practices applied in the process of investigating the crime by increasing the inter-institutional cooperation at regional level.
The main focus was on topics related to case law analysis; the criminal law regime of trafficking in human beings; distinction from similar crimes; "forensic" profile of the victim and the perpetrator; procedural and non-procedural strategies for protection against trafficking charges; interrogation methodologies; problems of legal protection of the victim, etc.
