On July 30, 2024 - International Day for Combating Human Trafficking, an information campaign was held on the central avenue in Marno Pole Park, with the participation of the Local Commission for Combating Human Trafficking, the Tarnovgrad Social Services Complex, and with the support of the "Campaign A21" Foundation.
During the event, information materials were distributed and a discussion was held with children and adults about the specifics of the crime of "Human Trafficking". In the form of games, children and young people learned about the dangers of being involved in crime, as well as the ways in which they can protect themselves.
The focus this year is limiting child trafficking. According to a United Nations report, children are twice as likely as adults to become victims of violence while being trafficked. Children are subjected to various forms of trafficking – labor exploitation, pickpocketing and begging, trafficking for the purpose of illegal adoption, as well as online and sexual abuse and exploitation. The preventive activity of the Local Commission is of key importance in increasing awareness of the subject and trust in the institutions, which is a basic prerequisite for effective protection and protection of victims. Targeted prevention and work with vulnerable groups is of key importance.
