The Local Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings (LCCTHB) Sliven organized an information campaign on the prevention of human trafficking and cybercrime in the context of the use of the Internet for recruitment, exploitation, and control of vulnerable people.

A major focus of the initiative is targeted work on preventing human trafficking in the school environment, with a focus on safe online communication and protecting students from sexting: one of the biggest threats related to exchanging photos or videos with sexual content and falling into sexual coercion and extortion.

Information meetings will be held with parents to provide information on the risks for children on social networks, with a focus on methods of involvement in human trafficking through the Internet and communication technologies and the subsequent control of victims.

LCCTHB Sliven is also planning specialized training for pedagogical specialists on "Involving parents in the process of prevention of risky behavior in children with a focus on counteracting sexual exploitation and early marriage".

The initiative will promote the National Anti-Human Trafficking Helpline: 080020100, through audio-visual products provided to LCCTHB Sliven by A21 Bulgaria.

In order to inform about the possibilities for reporting computer crimes and threats on the Internet, the website www.cybercrime.bg of the Cybercrime Department of the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime, the only specialized structure among the law enforcement agencies in the Republic of Bulgaria working on countering all different forms of sexual exploitation and other forms of abuse of children online, will be presented.
