The Local Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings in Sliven carried out targeted preventive work involving 70 parents from the district of Nadezhda


The main strategic goal of involving parents in the process of prevention and risky behavior in children and achieving more effective interaction and communication between parents, schools, and institutions, in November 2022. Vladimir Drumev Secretary of the Local Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings Sliven conducted targeted work with parents at "Bratya Miladinovi" Primary School in Sliven.

The initiative covered 70 parents from Nadezhda district in Sliven.

The main emphasis in the informational meeting with parents was placed on the problems related to early sexualization of children, early marriages of minors, resulting in dropping out of the education system, and the subsequent risks of falling into human trafficking.

A series of audio-visual products focused on the methods of involvement in human trafficking, discussing real cases of victims of forced prostitution, labor exploitation, and trafficking of pregnant women to sell their newborns  

Attention was drawn to the unsupervised use of the Internet through smart devices, which leads to risky sexual behavior of children online related to contacting strangers on social networks and subsequent exposure to online sexual exploitation.

In the discussions with parents, many stated that the education of their children is extremely important to them they are aware that the problem of early marriage is linked to traditions in the community that they want to change.
