On April 19, 2022, a specialized training for pedagogical specialists on "Effective approaches for prevention of human trafficking with a focus on the interactive process of working with audio-visual products" was held in Sliven. The event was organized by Vladimir Drumev, Secretary of the Local Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings (LCCTHB), Sliven in partnership with the Municipality of Sliven, Regional Education Department, Sliven and A21 Bulgaria Foundation.
The specialized training was opened by Pepa Chilikova - Deputy Mayor for Humanitarian Activities of Sliven Municipality and Chairperson of the LCCTHB - Sliven, who emphasized the key role of the interaction between the institutions concerned in order to achieve effective regional policies for the prevention of human trafficking.
Speakers at the training were Monika Nikolova, Executive Director of A21 Bulgaria, Kristian Makarov, PR and Communications Expert - A21 Bulgaria and Diana Kitova, Manager of the National Anti-Trafficking Helpline - 080020100.
During the event, the risks for adolescents of getting involved in human trafficking were discussed, with an emphasis on risk behavior and new factors for getting involved in the crime. The focus was on achieving an effective prevention process and impact on highly vulnerable individuals, improving identification as well as encouraging reporting of the crime through the National Human Trafficking Helpline - 080020100. A series of purposeful videos created by the educational platform Uchcha.se and A21 Bulgaria were presented, as well as two educational manuals for parents with basic guidelines for preventive work with children and teenagers.
