On October 29, 2021, the LCCTHB - V. Tarnovo, in cooperation with the Center "Amalipe", organized and held an online training on "Human Trafficking", which was attended by nearly 30 educational mediators from all over the country. The event was held as part of the campaign of the LCCTHB in connection with 18 October - European Day for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings and as a result of the long and fruitful cooperation between the Commission and the Center "Amalipe".
The main objective of the training was the preventive work with children, students and adolescents on the topic of human trafficking. In this regard, the Secretary of the LCCTHB through a presentation explained the types of human trafficking, the reasons for falling into such criminal schemes, mechanisms for involvement and ways to protect yourself. Emphasis was placed on the importance of students being informed about the specifics of this crime so that they can recognize risky situations and know where to seek help if needed.
A short animated video on trafficking of pregnant women for the purpose of selling their newborn children, created and implemented on the initiative and project of the LCCTHB - Burgas and the Association "Equilibrium", was also presented at the online training. Unfortunately, this form of trafficking is a specific and quite common form of crime in our country. The sale of babies from poor and especially socially isolated communities in Bulgaria is an increasingly common criminal way of tackling poverty.
All the participants in the training were provided with the presentation and the video material, and the request from them was to use them in their daily work with the students from the schools they are responsible for, as well as in their field work in a Roma community.
