
The Local Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings town of Plovdiv, together with the Bulgarian Red Cross in town of Plovdiv, and with the support of the National Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings conducted training within the "Blind Betting" campaign.
During the event, the volunteers became acquainted with the phenomenon of trafficking in human beings, the methods of involvement, and the ways to prevent falling into a similar situation, statistics and current trends about the crime at international and national level. As a result, young people have had the opportunity to put into practice what they have learned by solving cases related to trafficking in human beings.
The second part of the initiative helped to develop and build on the skills of volunteers to organize preventive and information campaigns. To this end, young people generated ideas for future ones, taking into account the planning stages and covid-19 challenges.
For their participation in the training, the volunteers received certificates signed by the Chairman of the Local Commission and Deputy. - Mayor of Public Order and Security at the Municipality of Plovdiv, Mr. Yordan Stavrev and Ms. Tanya Georgieva, Director of the Regional Council of the Bulgarian Red Cross, Plovdiv.
* The "Blind Betting" campaign is implemented by the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and the National Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, with the support of EMPACT. It aims to draw the attention of the society and groups at risk to the methods of involvement in trafficking, identification and support of victims of sexual exploitation.
