The Local Commission in Plovdiv marks the International Day for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings


On the occasion of the International Day for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, the Local Commission in Plovdiv, the National Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings and the Hanns-Seidel Foundation organize specialized training of police officers from the Security Police Department of the Regional Directorate of MoI - Plovdiv on the topic: "Traffic of humans - risks and consequences. Level 1 identification. Referral of trafficked persons.” The said training will be held on July 30th  at the Boris Hristov House of Culture, Plovdiv, and representatives from the District Prosecutor's Office - Plovdiv, Criminal Police Department of the Regional Directorate of MoI - Plovdiv, Combating Organized Crime Department - Plovdiv, Pazardzhik and Smolyan, et al. are invited to be lecturers.

The training aims to increase the awareness and practical skills of police officers to identify, refer and protect victims of trafficking in human beings. The training modules are intended to include: awareness of the dimension of the crime of trafficking in human beings, policies to prevent, identify, refer and support victims of trafficking, as well as the role of security police in cases of trafficking in human beings.

In parallel, as part of the national prevention campaign "Together Against Trafficking in Human Beings" and in support of the UN's Blue Heart International Initiative, volunteers will distribute information materials on the issue in the Tsar Simeon's Garden together with the Bulgarian Red Cross - Plovdiv. Young people will ask provocative questions to passers-by to analyze how aware they are of the causes and manifestations of the crime. A heart-shaped blue balloon construction will also be made, to which anyone will have the opportunity to be photographed in support of the millions of victims of human trafficking worldwide.
