Targeted activities for the prevention of trafficking of pregnant women for the purpose of selling the child were conducted in Sliven


In pursuance of the Programme for Prevention and Combating Trafficking in Human Beings and Protection of the Victims for 2019, the Local Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings (LCCTHB) in Sliven, together with "Doctors of the World" Association, conducted targeted prevention activities concerning the trafficking of pregnant women for the purpose of selling the child.

At the Cultural and Educational Center in Nadezhda district, Sliven, a focus group with 20 girls from the Roma ethnic community was organized to prevent and counteract trafficking in human beings, focusing on the trafficking of pregnant women for the purpose of selling the child.

The meeting was attended by the secretaries of the Local Commissions for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings in Sliven and Burgas, who explained to the girls what trafficking in human beings is, the types of trafficking, the methods of involvement and how to protect themselves from risky situations, while real cases of trafficking of pregnant women for the purpose of selling the child in Burgas were shared and discussed. The discussion with the girls also highlights the importance of education and early school leaving threats, as well as the prevention of risk behaviors and early marriages.
