The Local Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings in Sliven organized specialized training for elementary school teachers


On February 19th, 2019 in Sliven a specialized training for pedagogical specialists – elementary school teachers in the region, on the topic "Internet - a safe space for children and young people in the context of the risk of trafficking in human beings", was held, with lecturers Antoaneta Vasileva and Ralitsa Mihaylova - experts from the National Center for Safe Internet and the Parents Association. The training is organized by the Local Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings (LCCTHB), Sliven with the support of the National Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings (NCCTHB).

The event was opened by Mrs Pepa Chilikova - Deputy Mayor for Humanitarian Affairs of Sliven Municipality and Chairperson of the LCCTHB - Sliven, who welcomed the organizers and participants and emphasized that children and minors are a particularly vulnerable group and the practice shows that they find themselves in risky situations online every day, which puts them at risk of being involved in human trafficking.

26 pedagogical specialists took part in the specialized training - elementary school teachers from Sliven, Nova Zagora, Tvarditsa, Kotel, Banya, Blatets, Gavrailovo, Krushare, Samuilovo, Seliminovo and Topolchane.

The work of the participants in individual groups for specific cases helped to upgrade their competencies, create sensitivity to the topic and motivate them to carry out preventive activities, identify potential victims of trafficking in human beings and effectively partner with the LCCTHB - Sliven.

The training focused on the risk behavior and the new factors for involving children and young people in human trafficking, how to upgrade children's safe behavior on the Internet and how to engage parents as our partners and to interact successfully with them.
