Training for pedagogical specialists on the topic: "Internet - a safe space for children and young people in the context of the risk of involvement in human trafficking"


On February 18th, 2019 training for pedagogical specialists was held in Burgas on the topic "Internet - a safe space for children and young people in the context of the risk of involvement in human trafficking". The training was put into effect by the Local Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, with the support of the National Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings (NCCTHB).

28 pedagogical advisors, psychologists, information technology teachers from Burgas, Sungurlare, Karnobat, Sozopol, Ruen, Lyulyakovo, Rusokastro, Pomorie, and Sunny Beach participated in the training. Mostly pedagogical professionals working in secondary schools participated because of the particularly high risk of trafficking in people between the ages of 14 and 18 years through the internet.

The training was opened by Dr. Loris Manuelyan, Chairperson of the LCCTHB - Burgas. The speakers were Mrs. Antoaneta Vassileva and Mrs. Ralitsa Mihailova, experts from the National Center for Safe Internet and the Parents Association.

A large number of presentations, videos, case studies and discussions were used, maintaining  the interest of the participants until the end of the training.

The training sufficiently addresses the identified needs for upgrading competencies, creating sensitivity and motivating educators to do preventive work, to identify potential victims of trafficking and to partner effectively with the Local Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings.
